Our Philosophy

You're important! You've decided it¹s time for a portrait, it's your dream. We're honored that you've entrusted us with the opportunity to preserve this special time.

We take that responsibility seriously. Careful planning is one of the key elements in creating artistic, sensitive portraiture. It is this time that helps you plan the portraits you were dreaming of. Your complimentary consultation helps us understand your ideas and visions. This allows us to make suggestions about clothing, location, props, and time of day, helping to make your portrait session and portraits the fulfillment of your dreams. You'll also be able to share any other pertinent information such as concerns, difficulties, or obstacles that may have to be overcome in order to achieve the ultimate portrait. You'll draw on our 18 years of experience to get the portrait that will become a focal point of any room.

We truly strive to offer the best product possible. We do not "mass produce" images or treat customer service lightly. It is the "Goal" of each person on the studio staff that your order is handled promptly, correctly and pleasantly.

Special Notes in Preparing for Your Portrait

Remember the objective of this portrait...a beautiful, sensitive portrait, which shows the relationship and personalities of each person in the portrait. For this reason, keep the clothing very subtle - but be careful, so as not to dress anyone in an outfit that is not an expression of their personality, or that they do not want to wear. What you want to avoid is having any one person "jump" out of the portrait because he or she is dressed in a lighter or brighter outfit than everyone else. Work for balance, harmony, and color coordination. If you have any questions at all, please call us anytime! When you bring the clothes in for your consultation Mr. Huntsman will personally assist you in any way possible. Don't worry about anything, we will help you with everything, and your completed portrait will be superb because of this careful planning!

When you discuss the upcoming photographic session with your children, do not instruct them to "smile", or "do exactly as Mr. Huntsman says", etc. Simply let them know how excited you are about the photography, and leave everything else to Mr. Huntsman.

One of the keys to the success and beauty of Mr. Huntsman's work is his ability to help you feel at ease during the photographic session - so don't worry about anything - all of you will have a great time!

If there is anyone in your family who is particularly worried about the photographs or has a particular problem, be sure to let Mr. Huntsman know, in private, before the final clothing conference. There are countless techniques and special methods which we can use to minimize these problems, so be sure to bring up anything you wish to discuss! The secret to success here is communication as we are here to help you and our only objective is to create an outstanding portrait which you will treasure forever!

Some Important Information for You

GENERAL: Simple, plain outfits photograph the best, as they are not distracting. Our aim is to produce a timeless, beautiful portrait of you, and the best way to begin is to remember one word...SIMPLICITY! Your clothes should be plain and simple, not loud and busy. Always wear long sleeves!

GLASSES: If you wear glasses, be sure to have your optician supply you with empty rims for the day of your appointment, as not only do glasses catch light reflections, but they also can distort the face-line in some portraits because of the lenses. Contact lenses are no problem.

WOMEN: Make-up: Eye shadow should be applied lightly and with care, the center point of interest in a fine portrait is the eyes. Apply two coats of mascara - on both upper and lower lashes. Wear your other make-up as usual. Bring all your make-up with you, in case any minor modification is required.

MEN: Be sure to shave just prior to your appointment as there is no way to hide a "five o'clock shadow" in color photography.

A Word About Our Policies…

Your time is valuable as is ours. Because the time available for appointments is limited, a retainer of $100 is required to reserve your appointment date and time. The retainer will apply toward your session fee and order.

Due to the limited time available for evening portrait sessions retainers are non refundable. If an appointment is missed or rescheduled that is time neither of us will ever get back. We value the few hours available and hope you will too. There is a $25 rescheduling fee if you find it necessary to change your appointment. This must be done at least 48 hours prior to the session in order not to forfeit your retainer.

A minimum purchase of $350 will be required to book an evening portrait session. This guarantees us a client serious about their session and photography. This guarantees you a photographer ready to create images that touch your heart and capture a special moment in time.

Signature Series Portrait Session Fees

During regular business hours (9am-6pm) at the studio…… $50
During regular business hours (9am-6pm) at a location other than the studio.. $75
Evening Appointments (based on availability)…… $75
The session fee will be applied to the order on orders over $1000!

To aid you in your selections, the photographs you will see will be presented via our new innovative projection system. Because of the many styles and prices of our portraits, we will assist you with your selections IN THE STUDIO! In this fashion, we are able to project your portrait originals to all of the available sizes. This is a sizeable investment for you and we want your decisions to be the correct ones! There is no additional charge for this service. Portrait originals are placed in our projection system, and therefore, DO NOT LEAVE THE STUDIO AT ANY TIME! If you have a question about this, please ask us prior to your portrait session, so there are no misunderstandings at a later date.

What a thrill it is to see your portraits projected! Be sure to bring everyone who is involved in making the final decisions, as one projection session is included in the price of your session. We will certainly be glad to project a second time if needed for an additional fee of $25.00.

Due to the custom nature of our product, we ask that you place your order and pay 50 percent of the amount due at the time of your projection appointment, with the balance due upon delivery. Thank You!

If you have any questions, please feel free to call us.
